Hulten Speed Sports Racing Overview: Barton, VT

hss_ten_titlesHulten Speed Sports had a very impressive year!  From our 1st event it was a fight to our last.  Bobby "The Rage" LePage was on the gas all season.  At times we were a point a head and a point behind our very aggressive competitor Mathieu Morin. Coming down to the last fight at beautiful Findley Lake.  Saturday Bobby was up early and ready to take the Pro-Open title home.  He got to the track and said... "OK Ray this one is ours"  incredibly that it was happened.  With two rounds of 1st place under his belt, he was ready & did claim Victory for the Final. Sunday was a repeat of Saturday.  We met the devil in the eyes, up and ready to go "The Rage"  did a 1:2:1, Winning the Pro-Stock Championship.

Danny "The Canadian Blast" Poirier former 08/09 Champion brought home hardware all year.  Danny is one of the most talented and conditioned riders in the US & Canada.  He played strong all year and held nothing back for his teammate Bobby and competitor Mathieu.  Danny came into this season anxiously ready for the competition and left with 2 Third Points Championships.  Impressively he missed the Stock Championship 2nd place by only 2 Points.

Jake "The Snake" Scott, nothing is holding this young 15yr old rider back.  Jake came into the season begging us to let him race Semi-Pro.  It was an executive decision to let him take baby steps into his racing career.  From the beginning "The Rage" said from day one that was a BAD decision!!  Stepping up from the sucess he had in the Junior Division he entered the Sport Class.  Domination is the only word to explain Jake.  This is what he did since day one entering the 09/10 season.  Jake led the points all year, so far ahead in his classes that he was able to take a stab finally at the Semi-Pro class.  Sunday he had fire in his eyes as he jumped on teammates Danny Poirier's Open sled for the 1st time.  He came out of the hole on top and got tangled before the 1st set up jumps.  Off his sled with a hungry pack of 14 ahead of him, he passed all but 2.

Eddie "Big Air" Bandel is a native of homebase HSS.  Our aggressive young rider wanted to take over where Jake left off in the Junior class.  Winning 5 Championships is a start in the right direction.  Eddie was full throttle this year on and off the track.  Spending countless hours at Pit-X and working closely with Ray at the shop every other night, Eddie is a first class racer, that we (HSS) are proud to have on our Team!  We look forward to watching him play with the big boys next season.

February 28 - Orleans County Fairgrounds- Barton, VT - It was another successful weekend for team HSS as the riders took podium finishes in both Pro and Sport classes. LePage wasn't holding back at all in the Pro Stock class on Saturday, dominating both heat races and taking the win with a more than comfortable lead in the final; teammate Poirier crossed the finish line in the 4th place position. In Sunday's Pro Open final, LePage won the holeshot and led the first few laps but slipped away one position, finishing in 2nd place while the 3rd place spot went to Poirier

Jake "The Snake" was undefeated on Saturday in the Sport Super Stock 600 class, winning all heat races and final. Sunday was another great race day for young rider Jake Scott as he was the first to cross over the finish line in all heat races but took a 2nd place position in the Sport Stock final after an intense battle with Jesse James.

February 27, 2010

Hulten Speed Sports and Rock Maple Racing traveled to northern Vermont for another action packed weekend of snocross racing on February 27th and 28th. The race season is coming to an end and, with all the warm weather and snow melting, it makes it a bit more challenging to work with. Our team still managed to pull through and had great racing results at the Orleans County Fairgrounds in Barton, Vermont.

Racing Results:
Pro Stock.
Pro riders Bobby LePage and Danny Poirier both did phenominal in their qualifying heats for the Pro Stock class on Saturday; Bobby "The Rage" LePage had that #244 Polaris out in front all day long and teammate Danny Poirier, "The Canadian Blast," wasn't very far behind. LePage ended up taking the win in the Pro Super Stock final, followed by Mathieu Morin and Jason Boron; Poirier finished in 4th place.
Pro Open.
The boys were on fire again in the Pro Open class on Sunday, trying their best to put that red out in front. Both boys had great qualifying heats, finishing top 5 in both rounds. LePage took the holeshot in the Pro Open final but the win went to the #27 Skidoo of Mathieu Morin; Lepage finished 2nd and Poirier finished 3rd.
Sport Super Stock 600.
Jake Scott was using the throttle this past weekend in the Sport Stock class, dominating every heat race and final on Saturday. Sunday was another great day for Jake "The Snake" but the #322 Skidoo of Jesse James was right there battling with him, just as hungry for the win. The Sport Super Stock final on Sunday was an intense race between Jake Scott and Jesse James but Scott just couldn't get by him; Jesse James took the win and Jake Scott was right there behind him.

Hulten Speed Sports Racing Overview: Valcourt, Quebec, Canada

February 23, 2010

Team HSS had a weekend off from racing the RMR Snocross series so mechanic Josh Swieton and racer Bobby LePage decided to head north to meet up with teammate Danny Poirier for a chance to compete in the Grand Prix Ski-doo de Valcourt, which took place in Canada. This event was part of the SCM Racing series and included three long days of intense racing. "I believe this race can only benefit the boys," commented team owner Ray Hulten, "If anything, the extra track time will be great practice and preparation for our next points race."

Racing Results:
Friday - Pro Open
Pro riders Bobby LePage and Danny Poirier both had some great qualifying runs, immediately transferring them into the final. Danny Poirier, "The Canadian Blast," ended his day with a 4th place finish in the Pro Open final, while Bobby "The Rage" LePage finished in the 6th place position. "I didn't really have any luck today, but I had fun out there getting some track time," stated LePage.
Saturday - Super Stock 600
Saturday was a little better of a day for team HSS, putting the red out in front and making some podium finishes. Bobby finished behind the #27 Ski-doo of Mathieu Morin for the 2nd place spot and Danny made the podium with a 3rd place finish.
Sunday - Pro Open
With only a small portion of the team present in Canada and a shortage of parts, the boys tried their best to make way with what they had. Poirier finished off his weekend with a 5th place in the Pro Open final on Sunday and LePage took the 8th position past the checkered flag.

"Overall, this weekend was a good learning experience for me," said mechanic Josh Swieton, "I'll have more of an idea of what to expect the next time I'm in charge for the weekend."
