Poirier Sweeps Pro Stock at Boonville

bnvlpspodiumBoonville, NY - Coming into the third race on the ECS schedule, Danny trailed Dylan Martin in the Pro Stock points chase by 10 points after a frustrating Plattsburgh event. After 2 rounds of qualifying on Saturday, Danny regained the points lead based on his two first place finishes. Danny added to that point lead by scoring the win an exciting back-and-forth battle with Lincoln Lemieux.

At the start Danny came across the finishline stripe in third after the first lap, then second after two circuits. From that point on Danny and Lincoln put on an exciting show for the last 14 laps where each rider traded the lead a few times before Danny took over for good with 5 laps to go. "Staying out of the roost was an important aspect in the final," Danny stated, as the wet, heavy snow made visibility difficult if you got caught into a rider's roost.

Andrew Bailey caught the bad luck gremlin Danny experienced in Plattsburgh, but ran a strong final and finished with a well deserved fourth place finish. Forced to start from the second row, Andrew passed 2 riders before crossing the finishline in 8th for lap 1. By halfway through the 12 lap final, Andrew settled into 4th place and finished strong to salvage the day.

Sunday's forcast looks favorable with seasonal temperatures returning. Pro Open is on the line for Danny and Andrew looks to gain some ground in the Pro-Lite Sunday point chase.

ECS Race 1 - Burke Vermont

burke_poirier_web

After a difficult western trek out to the ISOC Duluth Nationals in November, the Hulten Speed Sports Polaris regional team sponsored by Bailey Motor Company got back on track for its primary focus of locking in Championship titles in the East Coast Snocross Racing Series at the Burke Mtn Ski Resort.

HSS veteran Pro driver Danny Poirier of St. Theodore d'acton, Quebec got back on track in a big way at Burke Mtn. by sweeping the Pro finals on Saturday and Sunday. "These are the best sleds I've driven in years," stated Poirier after winning both Pro Stock qualifiers on Saturday, then dominating the Pro Stock field in the final with a flag-to-flag win. After a lap one red flag forced a restart, Poirier artfully paused at the start, squared up his Polaris IQ and shot straight up the inside line to grab the holeshot lead, a lead he would not relinquish. In Sunday's Pro Open qualifying action, Danny logged a Round 1 win, then came out of the gate in Round 2 in third place behind former teammate Matt Piche. For 13 laps Poirier stalked Piche then made his move at the top of the course on the final lap to pass Piche for the second place finish. Every point counts in the quest for a season championship and Danny Poirier never ceases to grab points when the opportunity presents itself.

Qualifying in the number 2 position for Sunday's final, Poirier once again took advantage of the inside line and won the drag race up the hill for the holeshot and crossed the stripe for the lap 1 lead. In the 16 lap final round showcase, Poirier led every lap finishing with a "cushy" 5.7 margin over the second place rider. Special thanks go out to Dr. Joel Santy for his "magic touch" in this winning effort.

Racing Recap at Spirit Mtn. Duluth, MN

Sitting in the Semi last weekend, was like I never left.  I know I am not the only one who felt that way.  It was great to be back at the track.  Everyone has such huge expectations for Duluth.  It is the Race that allows us to show our Sponsors that we are back and ready to present them in a bold & determined way.

Pre-Duluth Practice

Colby Crapo #999 from St. Anthony, ID is racing Pro-Lite this season.  He spent countless hours at the gym training fiercely preparing for the flight at Duluth.  Unfortunately, LUCK (very important to any racer) was not on Colby’s side.  With fine tuning from his mechanics his sled was ready to go.  However, mid week he was landed on during practice.  Team owner Trace Leighton brought him to the local hospital in Virginia, MN.  Once seen by the Doctor, we were told that Colby had bruised his bone.  It is longer to heal than a break, but he was able to get back out there and continue to practice.  He trained hard for the next two weeks. Colby was not 100%, but thought if he just took it easy for the a couple days before the race he would be fine for Duluth (the main event).
